Holy Love

Favorite phrase from church this Sunday: “Holy Love.”

My pastor taught us how God’s love is not a purely pampering love, but a “perfecting” love. Real love is not sappy sentimentality, but willing to sacrifice. Real love is a steady, relentless opposition to evil and is willing to lay down its life for the safety and blessing of friends and even enemies.

In short, we often sell love short. God’s standard is high and only He has met it perfectly. Ours is to receive the gift of love with grateful hearts, learn to demonstrate it increasingly to others, and in the process, we will look more and more like the one who laid down His life for you and me.

I love you, Ahna. Thank you for your beautiful heart!
