Take Dominion over the Beasts

My son just sent me this photo of the lizard he caught today, so excited that his mom says he can keep him as a pet!

I love this symbol of boyhood and a young man’s innate desire to “take dominion over the beasts of the field” and “subdue all things”. This makes me smile and thankful for the “little years”.

One day Luke will forget about lizards and have his sights on catching a beautiful girl to keep as his wife- to love and to hold. Right now, my boy finds reptiles more interesting than girls, but that won’t last long. Oh Luke, you won’t believe how exciting life gets when your desires turn from loving a lizard to loving a lady!

They sure grow up fast…
