When you're a bridge you get walked on ...

Great church service this morning at a little country chapel!

A few Sundays ago, my pastor said, "When you are a bridge you get walked on by both sides." I am so grateful for wise, white-haired mentors like my pastor. He's walked further down the road of life, built many bridges, and helps me understand what's up ahead.

He told me, "You lay down your life as a peacemaker to be a bridge between people. Jesus was the bridge between God and man. God poured out his wrath on Jesus and people spat on, reviled, and cursed him." Jesus got it from both sides in order to make peace between a holy God and sinful man -- and He changed my life.

I want to be like the Prince of Peace, an ambassador from the Kingdom of Peace, reconciling people, families, and communities, but it's the "being walked on" part that I'm not very good at. Despite the difficulty of learning how to be a good bridge, I believe the prize is worth the effort.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9)
